ByeWallV2

THE NEXT CHAPTER · VERSION 2.0

Good stories
deserve an
open door.

Hit a paywall or a broken link? Find a publicly available archived copy with a click, and get back to what brought you here.

Free to use. No account. Availability varies by page.

ONE SMALL CLICK

THE EVERYDAY READER

Follow your
curiosity.

That story you saved.
That link a friend sent.
That idea worth another look.

A different route to the storyOriginal page → archived copy

A simpler way to keep reading.

01 One-click lookup02 Two archive providers03 No background tracking

LESS FRICTION. MORE READING.

From stuck to
one more possibility.

ByeWall opens archive lookups directly in your browser. You stay in control of where your link goes.

01 /

Find a story.

Open a public article or a link that no longer loads. Keep the original tab right where it is.

02 /

Click ByeWall.

Use the pinned toolbar icon or Alt + Shift + B. Archive.today opens in a new tab to look for a copy.

03 /

Try another route.

No readable snapshot? Right-click the original page or link and choose ByeWall → Try Wayback Machine.

Some pages have no snapshot, still show a paywall, or require provider verification. ByeWall doesn’t promise access to every article.

SMALL TOOL. CLEAR BOUNDARIES.

Your reading.
Your business.

Only when you ask.

No account, analytics, or background scanning. ByeWall reads the selected address when you invoke it. It doesn’t request access to all websites.

Know where your link goes.

Opening a lookup sends that address to the chosen archive provider. Known tracking parameters are removed, and obvious local or sensitive-token links are blocked. Creating a public snapshot is always a separate action.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Before you
turn the page.

Does this unlock every paywall?

No. ByeWall finds publicly available archived copies. Availability, completeness, and freshness depend on the archive provider and the original page.

Does ByeWall save pages automatically?

No. A lookup only opens an archive search. To request a new public snapshot, use “Archive options…” from the right-click menu and open the separate submission action.

What if the archive is down or asks for verification?

Follow the provider’s instructions, try Wayback from the original page’s right-click menu, or try again later. An outage does not mean the article has no snapshot.

What’s new in V2?

Reliable browser navigation replaces the hidden redirect check. V2 adds Wayback fallback, page and link context menus, a keyboard shortcut, clean link copying, safer URL handling, and minimal permissions.

If ByeWall made your day a little easier, you can help keep it going.
